Having so much free time throughout the day can be overwhelming and stressful. I have now been home from school for two months and my routine has completely changed.
I am among the many 2020 graduates whose semester was cut short due to the global pandemic. While at school, I was busy all day everyday, with hardly anytime for myself. I was stressed constantly and had mental breakdowns often. Overloading your schedule can take a toll on your mental and physical health. Having so much free time has allowed me to focus more on the present and being in the moment, without stressing about what's next. It can be difficult to stay productive when your only plan is to stay home and social distance, but I've created a new daily routine to keep me productive and on top of the tasks I have to complete.
My new Morning Routine:
7:15am- Wake up and practice yoga: Practicing yoga at the beginning of the day helps to set positive intentions for the day. Yoga with Adriene's youtube videos are one of my favorites. She has so many classes on her youtube channel ranging from 5 minutes to 40 minutes and they're especially great for beginners.
7:45am: Make green tea with honey: I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I love tea. It gives me the slight caffeine boost I need and has nutritional benefits.
7:50am- Journal: I write down a daily mantra from Find Your Happy Daily Mantras, a gratitude list, and anything else I want to get down on paper. Journaling in the morning helps me clear my mind and start the day fresh.
8:00am- Watch the Today Show: Now that I have more free time, I can relax in the morning and watch the news. I watch the Today Show daily to get my news for the day and stay updated on current events.
9:00am- Skincare routine: Wash face with Cetaphil cleanser, Thayer's Witch Hazel Toner, Moisturize with Cetaphil, and spray on rose facial spray for a boost of hydration.
9:15am- Workout: I am currently on the last week of Sarah's Day's Sweat it to Shred it 8-week guide. My fitness routine has changed since being home because I don't have a lot of weights, so I've been doing more HIIT workouts and at-home pilates than lifting.
10:30am- Breakfast: My go-to breakfast is a protein smoothie with Chocolate Orgain Protein Powder, banana, spinach, chia seeds, almond butter, and almond milk.
11:00am- Check my emails and complete tasks I have for the day.
Once I finish everything on my to-do list, I do some reading, watch TV, take my dogs for a walk, and spend time with my family.
I am so grateful for this time to relax and reset my mind. Having a set daily routine keeps me organized and helps me spend my days productively.
